The ShopWorks story to becoming the leading all-in-one business software solution created specifically for the embellished products industry, including screen printers, embroidery companies, digital printers, award companies, and promotional product companies, started in 1993. Today, ShopWorks’ OnSite business software helps over 850 of the most successful embellished products companies grow their business by streamlining and improving management of sales orders & quotes, production scheduling & management, purchasing & inventory, receivables & payables, and accounting & financials.
The story behind ShopWorks’ OnSite business software began in early 1993. JAM Graphx, a respected apparel graphics company, had been growing at 50% per year and suffering growing pains associated with a rapidly expanding screen printing, apparels, and embroidery business. Information on orders was not traveling fast enough to keep up with the sales volume, bad information was rampant, and getting important business reports took days of sifting through paperwork.
At this point, it was evident that something had to be done to automate the JAM Grafx shop.
Quick Books simply wasn’t designed to support all aspects of a screen printing, apparel, and embroidery business. It lacked production scheduling, design management, order status, receiving, and shipping, among other key functionality. Other software solutions designed for the industry were focused on sales quotes and orders but did not provide a solution that could improve the productivity of the entire shop.
After investigating available generic business software solutions, JAM Grafx decided that no software solution existed that was both affordable and, more importantly, designed specifically to help run all aspects of a decorated apparel business.
After much deliberation, the ShopWorks Story continued as JAM Grafix decided to create a business management software solution specifically for screen printers, embroidery, and apparel companies. The initial OnSite solution contained basic features and was initially used in-house. By 1995, after years of improvements, JAM Grafx decided to form a new company, ShopWorks, with Mark Venit, an industry consultant and Impressions columnist, and launch OnSite business management software.
ShopWorks’ OnSite business management software solution was created from the beginning to help screen printers, embroidery companies, digital printers, award companies, and promotional product companies run their shops better. It was created by industry experts for industry experts. The ShopWorks team has pulled a squeegee, threaded a needle, and called a customer to collect on an account. All of this experience has been translated into OnSite, our all-in-one business management software.
